Love my Poof Kitty

My grandaughter lost her original Silver the cat beaniebuddy and it took me over a year to replace it with the right one. Now she is so happy, carries it everywhere with her and sleeps with it every night. I did buy a beanie baby of it but it wasn’t the same for her, so now she has both. She calls them poof kitty big and poof kitty little.

frustratingly amazing!

i consider myself relatively creative professionally (am in marketing) so kept making a variety of what i thought would be fun toys for my cat. they ranged from simple to ornate – things you throw, things that move on their own, things that crawl, things that bounce, monochrome/colorful/etc. one day a colleague told me about this product, and from its description (a piece of wire with some wrapped paper) i was incredulous. she swore by it, so i bought it (cant beat the price)….

…my cat was obsessed. no other toy could distract her and amuse her the way this one did. i’d drag it and whip it around and she’d chase it everywhere. i could wake her from her sleep just by the sound of it rubbing against the rug, and she’d be off and chasing.

she NEVER tired of this toy. and our new kitten (and her new friend) took to it right away as well.

this ‘toy’ pissed me off to no end because it was so basic and simple, and yet worked where my ornate and ‘thought out’ toys (e.g. mini remote controlled cars with feathers attached) didnt.

Ridiculously simple, but elegantly effective

I was super-skeptical when I took this thing out of the bag.
It is literally a length of wire with some twisted brown paper bits on the ends (kindof like pieces of the thin round handles on a brown paper shopping bag). There’s one piece on the end that you hold, and maybe 4 or so on the target-end for the kitty. The stiffness of the wire is just perfect such that when you hold it lightly, and the cat bats at the end, it bounces and flies all over the place, with near-zero effort on your part. You can, of course, move it some more on your own and entertain the cat with more movement, but it works very well to just hold the wire lightly. I was a little worried that it might poke an eye out or something, but the ends of the wire are bent into loops so that shouldn’t happen. It is a stiff, significant-gauge wire though. Really, it’s crazy-simple, but really effective. My kitten gets bored with the fancy feather wand I have for him, but he keeps going with the Cat Dancer until I take it away from him because I’m too tired to hold it out and watch to be sure he doesn’t chomp down on too much wire. I wouldn’t pay a lot for it, solely because I’d feel like a dolt for shelling money out for wire and paper/cardboard twisty bits, but it’s a great toy.

Simple, cheap and FUN!

Both of my cats really love this and my wallet adores it because it’s cheap as well as being on the fairly durable side as well. My cats are active (they love to play, run after and catch things) and like to play two or three times a day. As several other reviewers have noted, you should keep a light grip/pinch on one end and that’s enough to make the other end swing and weave around in the air. Then, just roll your end between your fingertips a bit and it’ll bounce a bit and swing around and (hopefully) entice your kitties play with the other end. I’ve also held it in the middle and let both cats go at their seperate end but it’s stiffer that way and doesn’t move as much.

Boo is about four and half years old and the other, Poxie, is three. Poxie will play with anything that moves (or is shiney and will chew carboard for the heck of it), so she loves it. Boo is a bit pickier likes to “stalk” things and be convinced that he really does want to play. I usually to drag this around and wiggle it on the floor a bit to catch his interest but he always comes around and will start batting at it in the air as well. Both will go wild if it wiggles (and makes noise), just barely visiable, from the edge of a cardboard box or paper bag though =)

It holds up very well, they will pounce and chew on the cardboard and wire. The ends of the cardboard do fray a bit and get soggy but they’re tightly coiled with the wire and it lasts a good amount of time. The price is great also, so no qualms about getting a new one very couple of months!

My cats have NOT become bored with this toy

I have 4 cats. Even my lazy one will play with this toy. It may irritate the cat owner hearing the ball talk or when you kick it when walking in the dark at night and several phrases emit from it! However, the cats always enjoy hearing it and will awaken to start batting it around. It is very durable as my large cat brutalizes it by slamming it against walls! My little cat plays with it the most. Usually they are happier with hopping in an empty cardboard box or batting a paper ball around–most times cat toys are a waste of money. Not this one. I definitely am getting my money’s worth in entertainment value for both the cats and myself!

stopped working first 3 days

fun little toy. however, it quit working in the first 3 days or so. I have a Meyer’s Parrot, so I know he wasn’t rough on it, he was almost afraid of it at first…. I thought water might have gotten in it by accident at first, but then we heard a little rattle from the inside. (it wasn’t dropped or anything)… we took the batteries out and the rattle was still there. It just quit working. too bad. def. not worth the money I paid, especially with shipping included. maybe mine was just a fluke thing, I hope so, I’m too scared to pay for another one just to have it brake for no reason. hope you have a better experience, it was a very cute toy when it worked.

Cat toy is interesting and the cats like it. They weren’t sure at first but after they got used to the sound,it was fine. Vendor Dog Shredder was very fast with the delivery.

Kicking and Hugging!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R26AOSHW234B80 Picked up one of the Tiger pattern at a store, along with other toys. All 3 kitties LOVED this. Great size: 11″ x 4″ pillow section, 7″ tail. They rush it, attack, bite and rabbit-kick the heck out of it. Then they curl up and hug it and use it for a pillow. It’s so adorable and hilarious to watch.

Bought 3 more on Amazon (better price $5.99). 2 Giraffes and 1 Cow pattern, so this same review’s in all 3 products. The kitties don’t seem to have any preferences on the patterns.

Durability – bought in July, it’s now October, and they all still look new, despite all the rough play with teeth and clipped claws. They still love them, and carry them in their jaws around the house, so we’re always finding them in the strangest places.

Con: Can’t change the catnip, there’s no refillable pouch. Come on! Should be a given. Minus 1 star.

Bottom line: 3 of 3 kitties approve. A definite hit in our kitty household.

Edit: Aha, caught the end of a (17 lb) kitty play session on video! Enjoy.

Cats just love this toy!

I gave one to my cats and they love to grab it and kick, kick, kick! So I bought one for a friend’s cat who does not like catnip. He grapped, fell to the ground and kicked it vigorously. Finally he took a nap with his head on his Kickeroo.

Kicks It!

One cat likes this toy, the other LOVES it! I don’t know what it is about this, but they really do kick it. And bite it, and rub it. Have had this toy 1 week, no sign so far of any seams coming apart or fabric ripping.

My cat gave this video “one tail” up and walked away.

I judged this video based on my cat’s reactions to it, and perhaps my cat is too smart or easily bored. He sat quietly and watched the birdies jumping and hopping, but the only scenes that “turned him on” were the ones where the contrast in the film were quite light/dark, and the birds were flying at a distance, or hopping on the ground. In other words, acting like helpless little victims. He didn’t like the large “in your face” shots of the birds. Half way through he napped off. Perhaps the film maker needs to think more like a cat. I’ve watched my cat look out the window at birds feeding in the grass for over 10 minutes – he was so transfixed. Overall, the birds were cute and colourful but shot for a human audience and not to excite the hunting instinct of a cat.

Different strokes for different cats? Buy it.

(See my other reviews of Episode 1 and the Special Edition) My cats love these things- and I’m not talking one or two cats here. We house 41 felines with mixed histories of medical conditions and abuse- and 75% of them voted Bill Hayward the “OsCAT” for his contribution to feline a-mews-ment. Personification aside, these are great entertainment for your pets- and I am coming to think of them also as a therapeutic tool as well. Your cat may not respond as immediately as you would to a Spielberg thriller; you may in fact notice increasing interest as you let the tape play at different times. I find the natural bird/squirrel sounds a nice background noise (Ok, except those geese and the occasional bluejay- LOL)- and totally enjoy the reactions of the cats to the content. Enjoy- or just let your cat enjoy. these are super gifts for that cat-lover in YOUR life. (Yes, you do so know one. At least.) >^..^< PAWS UP!!

If only you could see this…..

I am looking at a photo of 6 cats watching this video. True, the filming quality can be improved (and is improved from Episode One) but this is a decent start. My cats watch regular cable TV anyway, the little couch potatoes – but watching them watch a cat-oriented presentation is a “hoot.!”
